James Fallon High School students provide personal insights into their lives in an exhibition exploring generation Y which opens on Thursday night at the LibraryMuseum
The exhibition – “snap: capturing generation Y” explores the lives of young people born between 1980 to 1995. Gen Y has been described as living for today, but keeping an eye on the future. They are big spenders, yet keen savers. Social networks thrive online and by phone text. They have disdain for advertising, yet are brand conscious. And many actually like living with their parents.
They're a complex lot, and the exhibition seeks to explore these complexities. All material within the exhibition - digital stories, photographs, fashion, voices and music were selected or created by 17 students from James Fallon High School whose ages range from 13 to 18. All material within the exhibition; digital stories, photographs, fashion, voices and music were selected or created by this group.
The exhibition also highlights the inescapable diversity of adolescence. The exhibition continues until 25 May.
