New footpath on East Street
Traffic flow in East Street, East Albury, has returned to normal after the completion of a new footpath.
The footpath has been built on the western side of the street between Walsh Street and Palm Drive.
Part of the project involved earthworks to remove a small section of hillside to create room for the new path.
The footpath provides safer access to Eastern Hill for runners and walkers, eliminating the need to use the narrow shoulders of the road.
In this first stage of construction, the new 1.5m-wide footpath links to existing paths near Walsh Street and continues downhill to link to a path at the hospital entrance.
In further stages, the footpath will be extended along East Street to join the existing path along Borella Road.
