JETGO announces service between Albury and the Gold Coast
Regional airline JETGO Australia has announced that it will commence scheduled services between the Gold Coast and Albury from late June.
JETGO Australia’s Managing Director Airlines Paul Bredereck, says the airline has been providing flights between the Gold Coast, Rockhampton and Townsville since 2015, and between Albury and Brisbane since June 2016.
Mr Bredereck says the smaller 37 and 44 seat Embraer Regional Jets operated by JETGO are the perfect size for the route. JETGO aircraft are faster and more reliable with a cruise speed of 820 kilometres per hour, ensuring passengers spend less time travelling which means more productivity and less fatigue. The cabin is super quiet, operating at higher altitudes above most weather and turbulence.
Commencing on 29 June JETGO will offer two return flights per week on Sundays and Thursdays. The flight time will be 1 hour and 50 minutes, with one way fares starting from $189.
The flights will also allow connections from Townsville and Rockhampton through to Albury.
Mr Bredereck said since JETGO commenced services from Albury to Brisbane the airline has received many requests for Gold Coast services and passenger surveys have consistently identified strong demand for non-stop Gold Coast flights.
AlburyCity Mayor, Kevin Mack, said it was fantastic news, not only for Albury and regional residents, but also for Queenslanders looking to enjoy southern attractions.
“I know that many border travellers will be thrilled at the chance to escape our winter chill, landing on the sunny Gold Coast in less than two hours from take off,” he said.
“I’m sure that Queensland holidaymakers will be equally delighted at the opportunity to fly directly into Albury, where they’ll be less than two hours’ drive from the winter meccas of the Victorian snowfields, just in time for the opening of the ski season.”
