Multi-level car park set to open

The much-anticipated opening of the Kiewa Street multi-deck car park is scheduled for Saturday 16 December, subject to final safety approval by the NSW Fire and Rescue Service.

In a welcome boost to CBD shoppers, workers and business owners, the new facility will offer 724 all-day parking spaces.

The construction of the car park was a requirement of the development consent for the Volt Lane precinct, and has been built on council-owned land at the cost of the developer.

Once the handover is completed, the car park will become a long-term public asset.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said it was an important step forward for the city.

“We know that parking pressures can build up, especially in the busy lead-up to Christmas, so this is a fantastic way of providing hundreds of spaces within a stone’s throw of shops and workplaces,” he said.

“The bright and colourful fa├žade of the car park reflects the bright outlook for our city centre and that can only improve with so many new and convenient parking options in the heart of the shopping district.”

Some minor works may be required after opening but these are not expected to affect parking availability.

When the Kiewa Street facility is opened, the spaces on levels four and five of the Volt Lane car park will return to time-limited parking.

AlburyCity thanks the community for its patience during the construction phase.
