We want your collection for Coolections

14 June 2016

Albury High School students will put their collections on show at the LibraryMuseum as part of a new exhibition, Coolections, which is on until 17 July.

The students are inviting other collectors to also put their collections on show this Saturday (18 June) 10.30am-1pm as part of the Coolections’ collectables swap, show and chat event.

Interested collectors can book a table to show their collection on the day by calling the LibraryMusuem on 02 6023 8333 or emailing learningoutreach@alburycity.nsw.gov.au

Mayor Henk van de Ven collects watches and said he was keen to see what residents collect and find out why.

"I encourage local collectors to contact the LibraryMuseum to arrange to join the Coolections exhibition this Saturday," he said.

"The exhibition encourages everyone to reflect on what they collect and what it says about their personality, their culture and the time in which they are living."

Collecting has been a human pastime throughout the ages and the Coolections exhibition examines how seemingly ordinary objects and personal collections can tell intricate stories about identity and culture.

Coolections and the collectables swap, show and chat event are free.
