Support for Chamber of Commerce
AlburyCity will support Albury Northside Chamber of Commerce with $132,000 sponsorship a year for the next four years.
The chamber is a not-for-profit organisation with more than 450 members and provides a broad range of business development support services to businesses across the City.
Mayor Henk van de Ven said the chamber was the largest in NSW outside the Sydney, Hunter and Illawarra regions and its members employed more than 7300 local people full time and 438 part time.
"The chamber does a great job and is an important link between Council, our business community and the wider community," he said.
"Their work to support local businesses fits with our wider economic strategy development."
In May the chamber will merge with retail promotion group Albury Central, meaning Albury Central will become a subcommittee of the chamber.
"Bringing the chamber and Albury Central together makes a lot of sense and will deliver stronger results for those paying the Promotional Special Rate," Cr van de Ven said. The Promotional Special Rate is collected by AlburyCity and funds promotional activities in central Albury.
The sponsorship will be included in the draft budget that will go on public exhibition for feedback from the community.
