NEXUS Industrial Precinct a step closer
AlburyCity has approved a tender for $3.63M to a local company to construct Stage 1 of the NEXUS Industrial Precinct.
The Stage 1 tender was awarded to Albury firm AP Delaney and Co. As part of the tender, the contractor will provide road paving, kerbing, sewer and water reticulation and a roundabout.
In total, the NEXUS development includes 450ha of prime industrial land that is located 10km north of Albury's CBD.
It is estimated that during the construction phase NEXUS will inject $91M directly into the Border economy and that when completed it will create more than 1000 jobs.
Lots in Stage 1 are for sale now and will be available for use by businesses in early 2017.
Mayor Henk van de Ven said NEXUS was positive for the Border and it was great to see it a step closer to fruition.
"NEXUS has outstanding logistics connections with road, rail and air transport links that mean it is an ideal distribution site," Cr van de Ven said.
"Businesses operating from NEXUS will be able to give next day delivery to 75 per cent of the Australian population."
