Catch the bus on Gold Cup Day
There's no excuse for drink driving from the Albury Gold Cup on Friday 18 March. There will be shuttle buses after the races and a Nightrider bus from Dean Street that night.
AlburyCity Acting Mayor David Thurley urged racegoers to take care and plan ahead how they would get home.
The Nightrider bus will offer a late night bus service from 10pm that will take racegoers from Dean St (outside Soho) to their doorstep for just $5 until late.
The Nightrider gives people a safe transport alternative and encourages them to leave the car at home.
"You don't have to be drunk to be affected by alcohol so if you're drinking please leave the car at home and catch the Nightrider from Dean St that night," Cr Thurley said.
"The Nightrider is a great service that people have come to rely on at this time of year. It's so convenient and costs only $5.
"We're encouraging everyone to make the most of the service, or at least have a Plan B to get home."
Albury Racing Club will also run a shuttle bus from the course into town after the races. Details on the club's website.
