Spreading White Ribbon message
AlburyCity was proud to support White Ribbon Day and will continue to spread the message that violence against women is unacceptable - in fact, we say it's rubbish.
More than 120 people took part in a White Ribbon Day walk on the Border on 25 November.
Council will continue to spread the message that violence is unacceptable through messages on the side of rubbish collection trucks.
From White Ribbon Day until 10 December, Cleanaway trucks will carry a 40cm x 80cm magnet saying: "There's no excuse for violence against women. It's rubbish! AlburyCity and Cleanaway support White Ribbon."
AlburyCity Mayor Henk van de Ven, who took part in the White Ribbon Day walk, said violence against women was unacceptable.
"White Ribbon Day is an opportunity to show your support and take a stand against violence against women, but as a community we need to continue to stand against violence every day," Cr van de Ven said.
"I urge people to visit www.whiteribbon.org.au and take the pledge: "I will stand up, speak out and act to prevent men's violence against women."
