Pets Day Out on Sunday

14 October 2015

Expert training advice, free microchipping and vet checks will be available for cats and dogs at the Pets Day Out on Sunday 9am-1pm at Hovell Tree Park in South Albury.

Pets Day Out is a day of free entertainment and education for families and their furry friends.

Activities will include expert dog training advice from Australia's leading dog trainer Steve Austin, free dog washing, pet parade competitions, free microchipping, free health checks by local vets, a petting zoo, jumping castle and face painting.

Chair of the Companion Animals Advisory Panel Cr Darren Cameron said about 1000 people and their pets attended last year's Pets Day Out.

Cr Cameron said animals were an important part of many people's lives and the Pets Day Out was a great opportunity to get cats and dogs microchipped.

"If you have a cat or dog it is essential that it is microchipped - even if you don't think your pet will ever get lost or run away," he said.

"Pounds around Australia are full of animals that are not microchipped and cannot be identified.

"Come to the Pets Day Out on Sunday and get your dog or cat microchipped for free."

If you bring your dog to the Pets Day Out it must be on a lead and other pets must be securely contained.
