Union Road speed zone review

01 August 2014

AlburyCity is undertaking another review of speed limits along one of its busy arterial roads and is asking the community to have a say.

This time, the focus is on Union Road, between Dallinger Road and Glenmorus Gardens. The road has both 60kph and 50kph zones.

Chair of the Albury Local Traffic Committee, Cr Graham Docksey, says Council has been approached by users of the road about the inconsistency in speed zones.

"We're now asking people who live and work along Union Road, regularly use the road, or have an interest to tell us their preferred speed," Cr Docksey said.

Earlier this year, AlburyCity worked with Roads and Maritime Services on proposed speed zone changes on roads in and around Thurgoona.

"We invited residents to have a say on the changes and received around 170 responses, which is a great result," Cr Docksey said.

The Union Road review will look at 3 zones: the existing 50kph zone east of the Fiveways intersection; the section between the Fiveways and Burrows Road and west of Burrows Road to Glenmorus Gardens.

Following the consultation phase, AlburyCity will forward the findings to Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) for its consideration. The final decision on any change to speed limits rests with the RMS.

Residents can have their say by visiting alburycity.nsw.gov.au/haveasay until 22 August.
