Council set to reduce waste fees

03 October 2014

AlburyCity has endorsed a plan to reduce fees at the Albury Waste Management Centre after the repeal of the carbon tax, resulting in a 25% reduction of entry fees for local residents.

The proposed changes are now on public exhibition and residents are invited to make a submission.
Council recommends a number of changes to council's waste and domestic charges resulting from the repeal. The most pertinent changes include:

  • A reduction in entry fees for residents disposing of waste at the Albury Waste Management Centre. For example, under the carbon pricing model a sedan, station wagon or 4WD would have been required to pay $16 per load of waste. Under the proposed changes, that will be reduced by 25% to $12.
  • A 10% reduction in charges for the standard bin collection service. This reduction would be reflected in residents' rate instalment notices.
