Council calls for further report on Cumberoona future

28 April 2014

A motion recommending that Council not accept any Expressions of Interest for the operation and maintenance of the PS Cumberoona and receive a report in July outlining the vessel’s future options has been endorsed by Council.

An earlier motion recommending that AlburyCity immediately begin the process to dispose of the PS Cumberoona under Council’s Asset Disposal Policy was unsuccessful.

AlburyCity staff will now prepare a report for July’s Council meeting outlining the future options for the Cumberoona after a recent Expression of Interest process failed to produce a compliant submission.

“It’s disappointing that the initial EOI process hasn’t been able to identify a compliant operator,” AlburyCity Mayor Cr Kevin Mack said. “We’ll be asking staff to look at our remaining options and present a report in July that will make a recommendation on the Cumberoona’s future.”

“A further report will fully outline the opportunities and risks associated with operating the vessel and allow us to make an informed decision about its future.”
