AlburyCity thrilled by O&M decision
AlburyCity has welcomed the O&M Football and Netball League decision to play the 2014 football and netball grand finals at the Lavington Sports Ground.
Council will work with the Lavington Panthers Football Netball Club to host the event, one of the biggest on the local sporting calendar.
AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack praised the Lavington Panthers Football Netball Club for submitting the successful bid and securing the grand final for a twentieth consecutive season.
"The Club has once again put together an outstanding bid to host the event. It has a great track record in delivering the O&M Grand Final."
"It's a vote of confidence in Council and the Lavington Panthers Football Netball Club that we can deliver a successful grand final. It's also further evidence that the Lavington Sports Ground has a reputation for hosting elite sport and will once again be the centrepiece for the league's biggest matches."
"With good weather, we can expect up to 15,000 people to attend the grand finals, who can be easily accommodated at the Lavington Sports Ground."
"We're also very grateful to the Panthers Group for allowing us to use its carpark. It will provide the free parking football and netball fans have enjoyed in the past and will be on offer again this year."
