AlburyCity joins Evocity Mountain Bike push
Seven inland NSW cities have today jointly released an expression of interest to secure a naming rights sponsor for the inaugural 2015 Evocity Mountain Bike (MTB) Series.
AlburyCity Mayor Cr Kevin Mack said the Evocity MTB Series would take place in 2015 and could be the most lucrative MTB contest in Australia. The series will secure a major mountain bike race held in each of the seven Evocities of Albury, Armidale, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.
Expressions of interest in a naming rights sponsor for the series were officially called for today (Thursday 7 August) when the Mayors of each city met at Parliament House in Sydney.
"As an Evocity, Albury is excited to help make this concept a reality and provide a platform to promote the opportunities and lifestyle available in regional NSW to a national audience," Mayor Mack said.
"The Evocity MTB Series seeks to establish a high performance pathway for mountain bike racing in Regional NSW. It will increase participation in the sport, raise the standard of mountain bike racing in regional NSW and raise the profile of each of the cities represented."
"Mountain biking is a fast-growing and popular recreation trend that could potentially create national exposure for the Evocity brand by aligning with a naming rights sponsor through a corporate partnership."
"With the support of a naming rights sponsor this event has the potential to be the most lucrative MTB Series in Australia. The prize money will stimulate interest among elite riders and create extensive media coverage," he said.
All seven Evocities will have tailored tracks to ensure there is variance between the races and to cater for competitive, amateur and recreational mountain bikers of all abilities. Albury's event is scheduled to take place on 27 June 2015.
"By offering a significant prize pool and creating a mountain-biking event of national significance we can attract biking enthusiasts from around Australia to visit each of the Evocities, participate in the series and generate an economic return for each City," Mayor Mack added.
