New Lavington Library Officially Open

11 July 2013

The new Lavington Library is officially open. Drop into Northpoint Tower on Griffith Road in Lavington and check out a great new facility and community hub.

“This will be a great opportunity to check out a fantastic new community facility,” AlburyCity Mayor Cr Alice Glachan said. “This is a significant investment in library services and will be a great long term asset to the people of Lavington.”

“The new Lavington Library combines all the elements of traditional library services with the facilities and services people now expect to see in modern libraries. The opening of the new facility means Council will be able to deliver modern and accessible library facilities in the heart of Lavington.”

“We’re also very proud to be offering an AlburyCity Customer Service Centre, which we’ve incorporated into the new facility. It will be a one-stop-shop where residents can take care of Council business on the spot.”

“We are anticipating at least 110,000 people to use the facility each year to borrow a book, surf the net, attend a program or exhibition, pay their rates, register their dog or attend a meeting. This library is a fantastic new community hub.”

The new facility will also feature community programs including storytime, book clubs, author talks, holiday and after-school programs and hands-on technology and internet awareness sessions.
