Expressions of Interest for former library site begin

09 August 2013

AlburyCity has begun an Expression of Interest (EOI) process for the sale or lease of the former Lavington Library site.

Council is keen to see the site on Griffith Road used for commercial or retail purposes, such as commercial offices, a retail showroom or a cafe/restaurant, and is seeking submissions from potential buyers or tenants interested in operating from the facility.

“Council’s intention is to attract a tenant or purchaser that can ultimately use the existing site to deliver economic and community benefits to Lavington,” AlburyCity Director of Economic Development and Tourism Tracey Squire said. “Council would like to see the existing building used as a commercial, retail or hospitality development that contributes to the vibrancy of the Lavington CBD and creates employment opportunities.”

“We would also welcome proposals for its redevelopment or from Not for Profit or Government organisations who have a commercial interest in the site.”

“The building is ideally located on Griffith Road in a high pedestrian traffic area and there is a vibrant mix of commercial, retail and service businesses in the vicinity. It’s a great opportunity and we encourage all proposals.”

The EOI process will be conducted over two rounds. Round One will allow interested parties an initial opportunity to express the nature of their interest and Round Two will require short-listed parties to provide comprehensive proposals.

EOIs must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 23 September. They can be sent by email to, or by mail to Ms Tracey Squire, AlburyCity, PO Box 323 Albury NSW 2640.
