Sportsfield projects 2018-19
The 2018-19 draft budget includes funding for a number of sportsfield improvements. The projects below have funding in year one of the draft budget.
Murrayfield - The sportsfield renovation program identifies addressing the subsidence (due to the previous use landfill) and upgrading the irrigation system as priorities to be undertaken after the winter season - $323,060
Ian Barker Fields - Funding is currently available to complete detailed design of an expansion and upgrade of the four-hectare playing surface. Funding has been included in the draft four year delivery program for construction.
Lavington Sports Ground
Continuation of the Regional Sports facility including completion of the expanded playing surface, grandstand/changeroom upgrade and new amenities ($4,000,000) and carparking ($490,000).
Strategic Land acquisition - open space areas - Thurgoona/Wirlinga
The Thurgoona/Wirlinga Structure Plan identifies one district sports field and five local sports fields. Funding will continue investigations into suitability of the sites and to develop concept designs for priority sites - $75,000
Thurgoona Oval changerooms and public amenities
The existing facilities are substandard and require upgrading to AFL standards. Funding of $700,000 forms part of the funding strategy with the final allocation included in the Stronger Country Communities Grant - Round two application ($419,000)
Lauren Jackson Sports Centre - major upgrade
The first allocation of funding is available to develop concept designs for the major upgrade of the facility - $250,000.
Swim centre pool covers
Purchase and installation of new pool covers for Albury and Lavington Swim Centres - $115,000
